There is one name which comes to mind when talking about Men’s Cuban volleyball: Leonel Marshall. Both father and son have been prominent Cuban volleyball players.

Leonel Marshall was a player in the second half of the 1970′s, who in 1976, aged 21, gained an Olympic bronze medal for the Cuban volleyball team, playing in all 6 matches of the event.

He played again for the Cuban volleyball team in the 1980 Olympics, again playing in all 6 matches, but the team finished in overall 7th position.

Nowadays it is his son, Havana born Leonel Marshall Jr who has been making a name for himself on the volleyball pitch. A strapping 1.96 metres tall, Marshall Jr came into the public spotlight in the 2000 Olympic games where he was the youngest member of the Cuban volleyball team, at 20 years old.

Since then in the world of volleyball, Leonel Marshall has gone on to become one of the premier players heralding from Cuba with an incredible ability for being able to jump up a whopping 1.27 metres into the air from standing.

How high is Leonel Marshall Vertical? It’s been reported that Leonel has a vertical jump as high as 50″. That is pretty outstanding, especially when that figure is from a standing position. He is the star of the Men’s Cuban National Volleyball team.

Leonel Marshall is volleyball play for the Cuban National Team and is known for his amazing jumping ability. He is an outside hitter and is rumored to have a vertical jump of 50″ allowing him to jump over 12 feet. Standing at 6’5″ this guy is a beast on the volleyball court. His combination of height and jumping ability gives him a huge advantage over many of his opponents. If you have never seen this guy play I suggest you check out the video below of Leonel in action. You’ll be amazed at how high he jumps.

Leonel Marshall must have been blessed with some awesome genetics but I’m sure he also works extremely hard on building up the strength in his legs to jump like that. That’s where a good jumping program comes into play. You need to build up a combination of strength, power, and speed to have a vertical jump like that.
